Devinder Singh to open second Indian/Italian fusion restaurant

A restaurant that fuses Indian flavours and Neapolitan pizza will open it second site next month.

East West will open a site in Shoreditch, close to Brick Lane, adding to its existing site in Tufnell Park.

It will serve a menu that will include pizzas such as the marsala margherita; the CTM made with a tikka sauce base, mozzarella, tandoori chicken, roasted peppers, and crispy onions; the Makhini Paneer with a butter sauce base, mozzarella, paneer, red onions, roasted peppers, and green pesto; and The OG - a butter sauce base, mozzarella, tandoori chicken, portobello mushrooms, and red pesto.

Other menu options such as chana masala with coriander foccacia; desi patatas bravas; onion bhaji; fish pakora; and boody mary chicken will be available alongside a range of arancini filled with a choice of butter chicken; spinach paneer; and masala lobster and sides of okra fries; Bombay pomegranate slaw; and masala garlic bread.

Its accompanying drinks list features Indian-inspired cocktails Masala Chai Old Fashioned; Mango Daiquri; and Chai Martini as well as beers, ciders, cofee and chai.

East West was founded by former engineer Devinder Singh in 2020 following a food-fuelled trip to Puglia the year before that inspired him to blend Punjabi cooking with Italian comfort food.

It rose to prominence the following year when Singh took part in the BBC’s Britain’s Best Takeaways show and the brand was crowned Best Pizza Takeaway in the country.
