Oldham restaurant Delve has closed with immediate effect just months after its owner had announced he was looking to sell.

In a post on social media, owner Jamie Collins said that the restaurant, located in the village of Delph in Saddleworth, had closed “after careful consideration of personal and professional factors”.

Collins opened the restaurant in a former bank building in 2024 and had become a popular spot for its breakfasts, brunches, small plates and Sunday lunches.

“I know this is the right decision, although it has not been an easy one to make,” says Collins.

“Delve has meant so much to me and I am incredibly grateful for all of the support.”

Collins’ restaurant Diggle Lock, also in Oldham, is unaffected by the closure and customers who have outstanding vouchers at Delve will be able to redeem them there.

In January, Collins announced that he was looking to sell Delve, saying that the business would continue to trade as normal until a new owner was found, with no disruption to opening hours, service, staff or suppliers. He described the restaurant as being “perfect for an owner-operator or investor looking for a solid business opportunity”.

In December last year Collins took to Facebook to complain about the loss of business for its Sunday roast service when 50 covers were lost due to late cancellations and no shows

“We are left with empty tables, wasted food and extremely frustrated,” it said in the post.

“We have lost over 50 covers today for our Sunday Roast service due to late cancellations and no shows.

“Times are extremely tough for small independent businesses at the moment, and things like this really do make it almost impossible!

“A table of 15 (no show), a table of 7 (cancellation on the day), a table of 13 (cancellation 24hrs notice), a table of 8 (cancellation on the day).”
