The healthy fast food chain says that 100% of all creditors voting in the CVA voted in favour of the plans, including HMRC.
“I am so grateful to all our landlords and other creditors who have shown us such strong support in recent months. With their backing we now have the opportunity, as well as the responsibility, to get LEON back to its best and to help people eat and live well every day,” says John Vincent, who returned to Leon last year, having sold the business four years previously.
“I would also like to thank all my colleagues for working extremely hard during the same period to stabilise the business and restore some of its old verve.”
The successful CVA vote enables Leon to exit administration with a total of 43 restaurants, including 23 franchise site. It will now press ahead with its t plans to revive the business, that includes bringing back much-loved dishes and focusing on innovation.
Earlier this month, the brand reintroduced its Superfood Salad, alongside a new high-protein chicken and avocado option and has previously brought back the fish finger wrap and aioli and salsa verde grilled chicken boxes. Each launch was marked by a pop-up event for Leon club members, including the temporary Leon Chippy opened by Matt Lucas
“I have highlighted the frustration that the industry has with the huge tax burdens of VAT, business rates and national insurance – our high streets are not being destroyed by the market, they are being destroyed by our own Government,” adds Vincent.
“But we are a company built on positivity, so we need to focus on what we can do to rejuvenate the industry, and to help people live and eat well.
“In 2004 we wanted to help people fall back in love with fast food that tastes good and does you good. We were the pioneers in gut health, anti-inflammatory ingredients, in extolling the role of good fats and warning of the dangers of sugar and ultra-processed food.
“Across the next months and years, you will see us reassert that leadership, and serve the many people who know how good food can help them feel good and perform better.”
