The bakery chain has appointed former McWin partner Harry Goss to the role as it looks to expand the brand into new international markets.
Goss, who was also head of foodservice at McWin, which has backed Gail’s since 2021, has been a board member at Gail’s since November 2022.
Speaking to Restaurant’s sister title MCA last year, Goss said that Gail’s was poised for significant expansion under the private equity firm, including internationally. He added that when it came to international expansion, McWin a rigorous assessment process, evaluating whether a brand has a “right to exist outside of its home country.”
Gail’s currently operates more than 185 bakeries across the UK and is gearing up to open a new site at The Broadway, in London’s St James’s Park next month.
In December last year it announced it planned to open 40 new sites in the coming 12 months, adding to the 36 new sites it opened during the year to February 2025.
The business said it would look to open a similar number of sites each year in the short term.
