One of London’s best bars is relocating to Covent Garden over the summer for a six-week pop-up.

Tayēr + Elementary, which is currently ranked at number 12 on Europe’s 50 Best Bar list, is taking over the basement of Mercer Street bar Cato to open Casual by Tayēr.

The move follows a fire at Tayēr + Elementary in Old Street in May that forced the site to close.

Owners Alex Kratena and Monica Berg say they are planning a series of cocktails to mark the pop-up, and its famed one sip martini will be able to order alongside a food menu in Cato Latin American style.

“Casual by Tayēr is our way of staying connected to the people who have supported us, even as we navigate an unexpected moment of change,” says Berg. “This residency gives us the freedom to be playful, responsive, and a little spontaneous to create something that feels fresh while still rooted in the values that define Tayēr + Elementary.”

Casual by Tayēr opens on 15 July.
