The Bombay café group will open a site at 24 Southwark Street in Borough this autumn/winter.
It will be the group’s eighth Dishoom in the capital, joining its locations in Carnaby, Shoreditch, Canary Wharf, Kensington, Battersea, Covent Garden, and King’s Cross and its 11th overall.
It will continue Dishoom’s enduring celebration of Bombay: its food, history, culture and its quirks, while paying homage to the city’s much-loved Irani cafés, which once formed part of the fabric of everyday life, according to the company.
“Borough has long been one of London’s great destinations for food, produce and hospitality, making it a fitting home for the next Dishoom café,” it says.
“We look forward to becoming part of the neighbourhood and welcoming guests later this year.”
Dishoom will open its 12th café, in Leeds, next month. Located on Vicar Lane in the city, it will open on 3 August.
The Leeds restaurant will serve a number of exclusive dishes, including a malvani lamb curry inspired by the coastal flavours of the Konkan coast of Maharashtra and made with leg of lamb slow-cooked with roasted coconut, cardamom, chillies, turmeric, and pippali pepper.
It has also teamed up with Leeds-based brewery Northern Monk to create Kohra IPA, which has been brewed specifically to pair with Indian food.
The group also operates sites under its Permit Room brand in Brighton, Liverpool, Portobello, Cambridge, and Oxford.D
