The Tamworth Tap in Staffordshire took home the overall title as well as Best Beer Pub at this year’s Great British Pub Awards.
Taking place tonight (Wednesday 23 September), the prestigious awards, which are known as the pub Oscars, celebrated the sector at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, seeing hundreds from across the industry enjoy a party of epic proportions.
Extensive drinks
The Tamworth Tap impressed judges with its extensive and high-quality drinks offer including eight cask ales, 20 keg lines and a number of bag-in-box ciders alongside a strong bottled and canned selection as well as a premium wine list.
Ed Bedington, editor of The Morning Advertiser, which organises the awards, said: “The Tamworth Tap showcases excellent beer quality, with the Tamworth Stout proving particularly impressive during our visit.
Industry celebrations
He added: “Not only that but the team there has a clear focus on building the pub’s reputation through local causes, industry campaigns and award-winning credentials.
“At a time when running a pub is more challenging than ever, it is hugely important we celebrate the people and businesses continuing to invest, innovate and create places that matter to their customers and communities.”
