Daniel Craig has joined forces with seasoned hospitality pros Charlie Carroll and Nick Jones to take over The Horseshoe pub in Clerkenwell.

The James Bond actor has partnered with Carroll and Jones, along with Justin O’Shea, creative director of the beer brand Bad Belze, to take over the pub, according to The Times.

Carroll, who founded steakhouse business Flat Iron and who is behind popular Soho pub The Devonshire, will oversee the food menu, with the ground floor of the pub serving bar snacks and a first floor restaurant serving a larger menu.

The site, which is described as having ‘a warren of upstairs rooms’ also has a beer garden.

It will be the first pub venture for both Craig and Jones, although the James Bond actor is not unfamiliar with the world of the publican, with his parents and grandparents having run pubs.

“I grew up in pubs. My parents ran a pub. And my grandparents had a pub in the middle of Chester,” Craig told the paper. “I talked to my mum the other day and I said, ‘How did this happen?’”

Jones also told the paper that opening a pub was an ambition of his. “Whatever I’ve done with Soho House I always love going to a pub,” he says. “I love drinking beer. And I love eating peanuts. I’ve been dying to do a pub.”

Like The Devonshire, The Horseshoe will retain its boozer feel on the ground floor, say the trio.
