Wagamama has ended its longstanding walk-ins-only policy, introducing same-day and advance table bookings across its estate for the first time since the brand launched in 1992.

The restaurant chain, known for its communal bench seating and first-come, first-served approach, will now allow customers to reserve tables of any size at all restaurants. The move follows a trial period and customer demand for greater flexibility when dining.

Bookings can be made for both everyday visits and special occasions, either on the day or in advance. Groups of 20 or more will be able to book directly through their chosen restaurant.

The change comes ahead of the festive trading period, with reservations also now open for Wagamama’s seasonal set menu. This year’s festive offer includes the return of the cranberry katsu alongside new limited-time dishes and core menu favourites. The festive menu is priced at £23 for two courses and £28 for three courses.

Claire Farrant, chief marketing officer at Wagamama, says the introduction of bookings marks a significant shift for the business, which has operated on a walk-in basis for more than three decades.

“For 34 years, Wagamama has been known for welcoming guests who simply turn up, take a seat and enjoy our food,” she says.

“Introducing same-day, any-party-size bookings is a really significant moment for us.”

Bookings are available via OpenTable, the Wagamama website and Soul Club app, while larger groups can also reserve by phone.
