Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) has announced that Petrus is to reopen in Belgravia in September, just yards from its previous location at The Berkeley.
After losing the dining space at the five star hotel owned by the Maybourne Hotel Group to previous Petrus chef patron Marcus Wareing last summer, GRH is to reopen Petrus at 1 Kinnerton Street under the direction of Gordon Ramsay and new chef patron Mark Askew.
Ramsay said the restaurant would carry over the best features of the old Petrus, including restaurant director Jean-Philippe Susilovic who returns to the role he previously held for five years, to create a ‘very exciting new destination’.
“Petrus is a cornerstone of the Group and this stunning new site is the beginning of the next chapter in the life of this restaurant,” Ramsay said.
Alongside the modern French menu that includes dishes like Fillet of Angus beef with Swiss Chard, Wild Mushrooms and Red Wine Sauce, and Baked Line Caught Sea Bass with Confit Fennel and Caviar Sauce, Petrus will serve a wine list featuring 34 different vintages from an open cellar displaying up to 2000 bottles of wine. As well as the main dining room, Petrus will feature two semi-screened private dining rooms.
The Russell Sage Studio, designers of the Savoy Grill and York and Albany, will create a modern, light and accessible dining room using leather detailing and polished metal work, as well as claret reds, oyster and silver and copper tints.
The news comes just a week after Ramsay admitted that GRH was close to collapse earlier this year after administrators KPMG were called in to help save the company.
