Available across Yo! Sushi’s 65 UK restaurants from tomorrow (11 June), the £8 YO! Burger sees the traditional bread burger bun replaced by Japanese toasted rice with a range of five filings including teriyaki chicken, kimchi salmon and tilapia katsu.
The group’s chief executive Robin Rowland said: “In a market going nuts for burgers right now, we have created a genuinely exciting alternative to the standard ‘beef in a bun’ offering. It is not only lower in calories, but a revolutionary new product."
Each YO! Burger is served on a bespoke Japanese bento tray with a selection of new accompaniments including pickled daikon slaw, nori crackers in place of fries and ‘misochup’ – a new flavour brought from Japan to the UK for the first time - instead of ketchup.
