Oxford-based Dodo Pub Co will open its fifth venue in the south of England, in Reading, in October.

The company, which is behind popular neighbourhood pubs and restaurants including The Rusty Bicycle and The Bottle of Sauce, will open its latest venue, The Last Crumb, on 18 October. Located on Prospect Street in the Reading suburb of Caversham, The Last Crumb will feature a large bar with counter dining and a 200-cover restaurant.

The new venue will be in line with Dodo’s existing portfolio, and will serve a menu centred on breakfast, burgers and Neapolitan pizza. Dishes on the menu will include the Dodo burger and the Dirty Bird - fried buttermilk chicken with Dodo slaw and smoky chipotle mayo- as well as buttermilk waffles; a tight selection of pizzas and wings

Dodo Pubs started out in 2009, when co-founders Leo Johnson and Chris Manners took on a ‘down and out boozer in the back streets of east Oxford’ to reopen it as The Rusty Bicycle.

The pair followed this up with a second Oxford venue, The Rickety Press, which opened in 2011. The company has since expanded beyond Oxford’s borders with the opening of The Bottle Of Sauce in Cheltenham in 2016, which also features a co-working space.

Earlier this year Dodo added to its Oxfordshire portfolio with the opening of The Up In Arms in the village of Marston where it prevented the existing pub from being turned into flats, as it did with its first two properties.
