Sri Lankan restaurant brand Hoppers has chosen Pancras Square in London's King’s Cross for its third and largest location.

Due to launch in February, the 130-cover restaurant will feature a bigger bar area serving a selection of beers on tap including two own-brewed labels.

Interior designs will take cues from landmarks found along the coastal route between the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo and the historical Dutch town of Galle.

The iron-clad concrete bar will form the centrepiece to the restaurant, and will be complemented by warm, terracotta-toned floors and cast iron-framed glass lanterns that will illuminate the main dining room.

The menu will feature all-new bar bites, seafood grills and beachside snack sections, with Negombo crab kari; Jaffna isso vade; and black pepper curry leaf prawn skewers all set to appear exclusively on the King’s Cross menu.

Hoppers, which is owned by the JKS Restaurant, opened its first site in Soho in 2015, and a second one in Marylebone in 2017.

Its Soho restaurant is notable for holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2017.

JKS is owned by the Sethi family, which also operates restaurants including Gymkhaha and Bubbledogs as part of the group.

It oversees operations for street food chain Bao as well, and is expected to open a fourth site under the brand within Pancras Square next year too.
