Nashville-style chicken brand Dave’s Hot Chicken has said it is unsure whether to serve its infamous Reaper-level spice mix in its UK restaurants after taste tests left diners ‘in tears’.

US hot chicken brand Dave’s Hot Chicken has opened its second Manchester restaurant at the Trafford Centre, expanding its UK presence following openings in Leicester, Sheffield and Bristol earlier this year.

The LA-born brand, which specialises in Nashville-style hot chicken, is operated in the UK in partnership with Azzurri Group. The new site follows the opening of its first Manchester restaurant at the Printworks.

The Trafford Centre restaurant serves the brand’s menu of chicken tenders and sliders, prepared to order and available across seven spice levels, ranging from Not Hot to Reaper, which requires customers to sign a waiver.

The new restaurant offers a fast-casual dining format, catering for both takeaway and dine-in customers. Its interiors feature the brand’s distinctive graphics and branding, alongside an old-school soundtrack.

“Manchester is a city that knows how to make an impression,” says Keyana Mohammadi, director of marketing at Dave’s Hot Chicken UK.

“It’s bold, vibrant and full of personality - qualities that are at the heart of everything we do at Dave’s Hot Chicken.

“We’ve had our sights set on Trafford Centre for some time, so we’re thrilled to be bringing another Dave’s to the city and serving up our crave-worthy hot chicken to even more Manchester heat-seekers.”

Simon Layton, centre director at Trafford Centre, adds: “Trafford Centre is all about bringing people together for memorable days out, and Dave’s Hot Chicken is a brilliant fit for that experience.

“Its bold flavours, distinctive personality and global following will bring something new for visitors to discover.”
