In Oxford city centre, the restaurant will bring the burger-focused brand up to a total of 16 sites joining 15 sites in London and a site in Cardiff, which launched in 2015 two years after Shake Shack arrived in the UK.
The three-storey site will be located on Cornmarket Street, a major pedestrian shopping hub.
In preparation for the opening, Shake Shack is collaborating with illustrator and muralist, Ellie Fryer on a design for the building’s exterior.
Incorporating some of Shake Shack’s signature menu items with an ‘olden’ twist, the artworks focus on bringing to life the stories, legends and cultural heritage of an Oxford past.
Like the rest of the sites, the Shake Shack Oxford will offer a menu that features signature ShackBurger, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Flat-top Dogs, ShackMeister Ale and hand-spun shakes.
Shake Shack was launched by US restaurateur Danny Meyer as a food cart in New York’s Madison Square Park in 2004.
There are currently around 460 sites trading under the brand throughout the world including 260 in the US.
In the UK Shake Shack is operated by the Kuwaiti-owned Diverse Dining.
