Papa John’s is to close 50 underperforming sites in the UK as part of a process to boost its UK operations.

The 50 restaurants are corporate-owned and account for two thirds of the brand’s operating loss in the UK during the fourth quarter of 2023.

The pizza chain, which has more than 500 sites across the UK, says it will continue to evaluate its remaining UK business.

"As our second largest global market, Papa John’s remains committed to driving growth in the UK,” according to a Papa John’s spokesperson.

"As mentioned in January, we are undertaking a comprehensive review of our UK-based restaurants to assess viability.

"Based on our current analysis, we are planning to close approximately 50 underperforming corporate-owned locations.”
