The website for Victor Garvey at The Midland Grand remains live but does not function with links to menus and bookings apparently disabled.
When contacted by Restaurant, a staff member at the Marriott-owned hotel confirmed the restaurant was not open for business today (16 July) and is not currently taking bookings.
The restaurant’s adjoining the Gothic Bar appears to still be trading and is accepting bookings.
Launched in March, Garvey’s high-reaching restaurant replaced chef Patrick Powells’ The Midland Grand Dining Room.
It served an à la carte menu, with guests also having the option to choose from a prix fixe menu of two to three courses, a seven-course tasting menu, and the full 14- course degustation menu.
The food style was described by Garvey at launch as ‘honouring the foundations of classical French cuisine while embracing modernity’ that rethinks tradition with ‘with a lighter, more balanced approach, cutting-edge techniques, and an unwavering focus on world-class ingredients’.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Harry Handlesman, who is also behind Chiltern Firehouse - which is currently closed due to significant fire damage - and the F&B at East London hotel The Stratford.
Garvey - who is best known for his Michelin-starred SO|LA restaurant in Soho - is understood to be opening a new restaurant this Autumn having secured a site in Great Portland Street.
The St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel, Handlesman and Garvey have been contacted for comment.
