The future of Endo Kazutoshi’s Michelin-starred flagship is uncertain following a major fire at The Helios building in West London early on Saturday morning (6 September).

A statement issued by the London Fire Brigade on Saturday morning said “As of 0800 hrs, a restaurant, external decking and ducting remains alight”.

It is understood that nobody was seriously hurt in the blaze at the nine-storey building, which is part of the former BBC Television Centre in White City.

The cause of the fire, which took about 100 firefighters to bring under control, is currently unknown.

Neither Endo at the Rotunda or Kazutoshi have posted anything on their social channels but the restaurant is assumed to be closed.

Endo at the Rotunda - which is currently ranked 24th on Restaurant’s list of the top 100 places to eat in the UK - reopened last year following a major refurbishment with its chef saying at the time that he wanted to create a more ‘personal and immersive’ omakase experience.

Led by high-profile Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the overhaul saw the restaurant’s bar area replaced with a wooden landscape-like seating area that recalls ‘the materiality of the natural world’.

Kazutoshi launched Endo at the Rotunda in 2019 attracting a Michelin star just five months later.

Endo at the Rotunda has been contacted for comment.
