Yard Sale Pizza has appointed Stephen Hollis as CEO to help the Piper-backed business achieve its ambitious growth plans.

Co-founder Johnnie Tate will transition to a non-executive director and founder role, focusing on brand and property.

The move comes as Yard Sale prepares to open a new shop in East Finchley in early 2026 and negotiates on a number of other sites around London.

In its first-half trading, the company is delivering “positive like-for-like sales growth”.

Hollis brings more than 25 years’ experience working with respected brands, along with in-depth knowledge of delivery operations and people culture. His most recent role was operations director at Soul Foods Group, which operates 90 Starbucks sites.

He has also held senior positions at Nando’s, Côte, Pizza Hut, Malmaison, Greene King and MSG, one of the UK’s largest Domino’s Pizza franchisees with more than 200 sites.

“The business is performing very well and I’m as excited as ever about the future of Yard Sale as we grow from 15 to 40 sites over the next five years,” Tate says. “This next phase requires skills and experience from outside the business to help us build a great team and grow the brand to new audiences inside and outside London.

“I am as ambitious as ever and will continue to drive the business from my new role as NED Founder, focusing my energy on brand and property, where I feel I can deliver the greatest impact.

“I’m so proud of where we’ve got Yard Sale Pizza to — the business is in a brilliant position, and I’m very excited for the next phase of growth.”

Yard Sale was founded by Tate, Dan Spinney and Nick Buckland in 2014 as a supper club. It currently operates 15 sites in outlying areas of London, including Clapton, Walthamstow, Battersea, East Dulwich, Tufnell Park and Bermondsey.
