The three Michelin-starred chef’s first and only venture outside the UK, Oncore was critically acclaimed, earning three hats — signifying “world class” — from The Good Food Guide, Australia’s most recognised and influential restaurant rating system.
Neither Smyth nor Crown Resorts, the owner of Crown Sydney, has given a reason for the closure.
However, it comes as Smyth prepares to expand her London portfolio with two new openings.
Smyth’s luxury Chelsea bistro Cornucopia is set to launch later this month, followed in 2026 by a new restaurant within the forthcoming Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch hotel. The latter will be pitched at a similar level to her three Michelin-starred Notting Hill flagship, Core by Clare Smyth.
A statement posted on Oncore’s Instagram account reads:
“We’re immensely proud of our team’s dedication and the exceptional standard of service they’ve delivered.
Being honoured with three Good Food Guide hats consecutively is a testament to them and their remarkable talent.
Together with Clare Smyth, we have created a dining experience that sets a benchmark for excellence, and we are delighted to have shared that with so many wonderful guests.”
Oncore’s final service will take place on 28 February.
