According to a post on Instagram, the brothers will take a short break before returning next year with a new, as-yet-to-be-revealed project.
It is unclear whether Caravel, which is located on a barge on Regent’s Canal, and the nearby Studio Kitchen will continue under new management.
The post reads: “Caravel was a restaurant we built from the ground/water up, and it’s unfortunate we have to step away. Thank you to all of our talented staff and loyal customers that dined with us over the years, it’s been the best!”
The sons of Rochelle Canteen co-founder Melanie Arnold and restaurant consultant Jon Spiteri, the brothers launched Studio Kitchen on the pontoon next door to Holborn Studios in early 2020, and followed up with Caravel in 2022.
Dishes at the latter included tagliatelle with Romanesco courgettes and stracciatella; roast hake with braised fennel and green sauce; and sesame prawn toast with chilli jam.
Fin started his career in the kitchens at Bentleys and Locanda Locatelli, and later ran the restaurant and members club at Quo Vadis before launching his own bar and cocktail consultancy business.
Lorcan, meanwhile, began his career at Quo Vadis, working his way from runner to sous chef before moving on to launch Oldroyd as sous chef. After a few summers at Rochelle Canteen, he launched his own brand ‘Guinea Fowlers’, running two long-term pub residencies alongside a pitch at Rupert Street Market in Soho.
Fin oversaw the floor at Caravel, while Lorcan oversaw the kitchen.
