The former Mercato Metropolitano site in Ilford, east London, will relaunch later this month as Maison Noor, a “community-first” marketplace destination.

Maison Noor will host a collection of 16 fully halal traders inspired by global cuisines.

These include Badiani Italian Gelato; Caprinos Pizza; Chai & Chapati; Flip and Sear; Dum Dum Doughnuts; and Birria Taco. Additional brands are set to be announced ahead of the launch.

Alongside its food court, Maison Noor plans to introduce an 850 sq ft soft-play area as part of a later phase following the initial opening. Future additions will also include a deli supermarket, a collection of specialist deli units, and a daily farmers’ market.

Mercato Metropolitano opened in 2024 but closed “temporarily” around six months later.

Maison Noor is supported by the Greater London Authority’s City Hall, backed by Sadiq Khan.

Maison Noor will be operated by a group led by Atif Amin, who previously scaled Creams Dessert Café from 42 to 92 sites and served as chief financial officer at Clos Maggiore, Big Easy Restaurants and Euphorium Bakery.

The wider team includes Nicola Allieta, CEO of Mercato Metropolitano; Mark Wood, a hospitality leader who has launched and led concepts in the Middle East and the UK; Daniel Bear, who scaled Euphorium Bakery to 139 locations before its full sale to Tesco in 2017; Azeem Shaikh, a chef-entrepreneur with experience developing and operating food and beverage concepts; and Miraan Amin, a strategic consultant who has worked with clients across the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East.

“We are incredibly proud and excited to introduce Maison Noor, a new concept that will create a new highly desirable destination in Ilford for all from across London,” Amin says. “With our highly experienced and proven team, we’re bringing together some of the most exciting food brands, entrepreneurs, and traders under one roof to create a new space that is inspired by global cultures and adds value to the local community.”
