US burger brand Shake Shack is opening its first fully halal-certified restaurant in the UK at Manchester’s Trafford Centre.

The new site, which opens this week, will serve a 100% halal-friendly menu, including beef and chicken, halal-certified beef hot dogs and, for the first time in its UK restaurants, halal bacon.

The kitchen will also be operated entirely without alcohol, in line with halal preparation standards.

Shake Shack’s core menu, including the ShackBurger, crinkle-cut fries, flat-top dogs, and hand-spun shakes, will all be prepared under halal certification.

Shake Shack is among a number of QSR and casual dining chains to open a fully-certified halal site as part of its portfolio.

Five Guys operates three fully halal restaurants in the UK as well as some where pork bacon is cooked on separate grills, around 80 Nando’s restaurants serve 100% halal chicken, and around 200 of the UK’s 1,200 KFC locations offer halal food.
