Located just east of Bergerac, La Closerie de la Beyne will open on Friday and Saturday evenings in May.
From June, it will operate for dinner from Thursday to Sunday, alongside Saturday and Sunday lunch.
On Friday evenings, the 40-cover restaurant will serve a tasting menu (€68), while a four-course menu (€45) will be available on all other days.
A three-course set lunch will be offered on Saturdays (€38), with a children’s menu also available.
Mansell’s seasonal relocation across the Channel follows several years cooking in the south-west of England, where she operated Lyme Regis restaurants Lilac and Robin Wylde from 2021 to 2025, earning recognition in Restaurant’s list of the top 100 restaurants in the UK.
Following a chance meeting with the estate owner during a recent trip to France, Mansell was offered the opportunity to take over La Closerie de la Beyne.
Set within a 13-hectare estate with two self-catered gîtes, a swimming pool and herb garden, the site was previously a family-run bistro popular with locals before closing in 2024.
Mansell’s menu will draw on the region’s larder, including Périgord summer truffles, walnuts and farmhouse cheeses, alongside produce from the estate’s orchard - plums, figs, cherries, quince and apples - as well as flowers and herbs.
Her dishes will reflect the distinct style honed in Lyme Regis, centred on foraged and wild ingredients - an approach she has developed through wider projects, including public foraging workshops on the Jurassic Coast.
Dishes on the opening menu will include broad beans and fresh peas with raw fennel, wild fennel oil and whipped goat’s curd; pork cooked over fire with fermented fennel and Monbazillac sauce; and blackcurrant leaf parfait with Périgord cherries and crystallised hedgerow flowers.
The predominantly French wine list will feature producers from neighbouring Bordeaux, as well as wineries around Bergerac and Monbazillac, including Château Barouillet.
Alongside the restaurant, the estate includes two self-catered gîtes sleeping six and eight guests, with a shared swimming pool and sauna.
Set at the end of a private road overlooking a forested valley, it also features a permaculture farm, woodland trails and horses.
