Pret A Manger has opened its first drive-thru shop in Warrington, marking a new trial format for the brand as Pret continues to expand its presence in transport and travel locations across the UK.

Opening in partnership with Motor Fuel Group, the site is located just off the M6 at junction 21 and employs 15 people.

The drive-thru has one lane for vehicles, with a digital menu board showcasing Pret’s menu of freshly made food, barista-prepared drinks and selection of cold drinks, snacks and baked goods.

The shop also offers seating for up to 48 people inside, alongside EV charging points.

“Travel hubs and roadside locations present a huge growth opportunity for Pret, making the launch of our first drive-thru a natural next step in our expansion,” says Ross Warnes, Pret A Manger president, UK & Ireland.

“It’s all part of our strategy of meeting customers where they are, while still delivering the same friendly, speedy service and freshly made food we’re known for.

“Our teams have worked incredibly hard to deliver this new Pret experience, and we can’t wait to start welcoming customers soon.”

Pret currently operates 220 shops in leading airports, stations and motorway service areas across the UK, 35 of which are operated by Motor Fuel Group.

Jack Tindall, head of food service operations at Motor Fuel Group adds: “As Pret’s largest UK franchise partner, opening Pret’s first ever drive-thru is a major milestone for our partnership.

“We know how much the people of Warrington love great coffee, and we’re thrilled to bring Pret’s freshly made food and barista-made drinks to them.

“From freshly baked croissants to sandwiches, salads and organic coffee, this new shop offers everything customers love about Pret designed for modern, on-the-go journeys.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of launching this new format for Pret and look forward to serving the Warrington community.”

The company announced its plans to open a drive thru format last year as part of the brand’s move to introduce different formats to its customers.

in 2025 Pret opened two new format regional shops through franchise partners – in Broughty Ferry, near Dundee and Maidenhead in Berkshire – that are more focused on the dine-in experience with more comfortable seating, made-to-order food, full crockery service and a children’s play area.
