Dante Mayfair will open as a permanent restaurant and bar at Claridge’s this summer following a year-long residency at the hotel.

The move follows the closure of Claridge’s Restaurant, which served its final guests on Sunday 10 May.

The space is set to reopen in mid-June as Dante Mayfair, operated by New York restaurateurs Linden Pride and Natalie Hudson.

Originally established as Caffe Dante in Greenwich Village in 1915, Dante has built an international reputation for its cocktails and neighbourhood dining concept offering Italian-American cuisine.

Since taking over the venue in 2015, Pride and Hudson have modernised the brand while preserving its heritage.

The venue has received a number of accolades, including Number One on The World’s 50 Best Bars list, Time Out New York’s Bar of the Year, and World’s Best Bar at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.

“We are so proud to call Claridge’s, and London, our new home,” says Pride.

“At Dante Mayfair, we will amp up the volume on our New York roots across design, menu, and music, aiming to bring an impish sense of fun to Davies Street.

“That sense of a neighbourhood that Dante’s created for decades in New York? Mayfair’s about to feel it!”

Claridge’s Managing director Thomas Kochs adds: “We have loved seeing the energy the team at Dante have brought to Claridge’s, and bringing the magic of Manhattan to Mayfair has truly resonated with Londoners.

“The goal is to make this restaurant the living room of Mayfair, a relaxed spot with great food, wonderful people and, of course, a buzzing atmosphere thanks to Dante’s signature Martini hour and soulful live music.”

Located in the heart of Mayfair, Claridge’s is part of Maybourne and is known for its luxury suites and food and beverage offerings, including afternoon tea in The Foyer and drinks at The Fumoir, Claridge’s Bar and The Painter’s Room.

The hotel also opened Claridge’s Bakery earlier this year, headed by Richard Hart.
