Pizza Express reports a 5% rise in UK like-for-like sales in the first quarter of FY26, as the group says it continues to outperform the wider casual dining market.

The update relates to Pizza Express Group (Wheel Bidco), which includes the company’s dine-in and delivery operations across the UK and Ireland, as well as its international and retail businesses.

The company posted total Q1 sales of £112m for the 13 weeks ended 29 March 2026, up from £108m a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA rose 30% year-on-year to £12m from £9m.

The trading update follows a resilient FY25 performance, during which the group maintained a broadly flat revenue of £440m despite ongoing macroeconomic pressures. Full-year adjusted EBITDA increased 6.3% to £53m, compared with £49m in 2024.

PizzaExpress said the results reflected a year of ‘transformation and innovation’, highlighting record taste and service scores alongside positive year-on-year movement in Net Promoter Scores.

In May 2025, Pizza Express completed a refinancing deal that reduced group debt to £280m. In addition, the Group reached agreement with the noteholders to extend the maturity of the senior secured notes until September 2029 and with its banks to extend the maturity of its £30m RCF facility until March 2029.

“The positive momentum we have seen in Q1 of 2026 has been exciting and rewarding for the full team that delivered it,” says Paula MacKenzie, Pizza Express CEO.

“It follows on what was a positive 2025 for our business.

“Our teams remain laser-focused on realising the full potential of the Pizza Express brand across our restaurant, delivery and retail channels.

“The delivery of these excellent results, amidst a very challenging sector backdrop, is further proof that our strategy of investing in our core estate, digital capabilities and omnichannel operational excellence is working, and I’m incredibly proud that in our 60th year and beyond we continue once again to outperform the casual dining market across the UK & Ireland.

“The biggest thank you goes to our brilliant customers and fabulous teams who go out of their way each and every day to delight.”
