MeatLiquor is expanding nationally and is soon to open sites in Leeds and Bristol

MEATLiquor’s London restaurants in Oxford Circus and East Dulwich and its sister sports bar BLOODsports, were bought from administration by former director Nabil Mankarious.

The business, which traded under the name MEATailer, was placed in administration last month, with more than half of its seven-strong estate closed.

Documents published by the administrator show that that Zane Collins of Rushtons Insolvency was appointed to lead the process as well as administrator of the company’s wholly owned subsidiary Boo Sports - formerly Bloodsports Limited - on 9 April 2026.

Following a marketing process, 17 expressions of interest were made resulting in two offers for the business – one from an unconnected party, which offered £1 for the company, to include all assets and liabilities, which were estimated at the time to be £2m.

NM Restaurants Limited and MLED Restaurants Limited, both under the control of former director of Mankarious, who is also co-founder and former managing director of Fulham Shore, submitted an offer to purchase the MEATLiquor sites on Margaret Street, Oxford Circus and Lordship Lane, East Dulwich for £100,000 on a going concern basis.

After negotiations, the offer was increased to £122,500 - £55,000 for MEATLiquor’s Oxford Circus and East Dulwich sites in London and £67,500 for the Bloodsports bar in Covent Garden.

According to the statement of administrators’ proposal, the restaurant business continued to be impacted by the tough trading environment. “Post-pandemic inflation, energy price spikes and supply chain disruption have driven significant cost increases,” the report says.

“Operators have had to face higher food prices, energy bills, wage costs, business rate and rents. It is also evident that, whilst the sector has recovered somewhat since the pandemic, it has not returned to pre-pandemic norms, which also coincides with the increase in the cost-of-living expenses.

“A combination of the above issues has severely impacted the company’s cashflow position and specifically impacted the restaurants which were not based in prime tourist locations, where there was more footfall.”

“Due to the cashflow issues, the directors had been liaising with business advisors. The advisors carried out a full financial review of the company and concluded that restructuring advice would be necessary.”

MEATliquor was founded by Scott Collins and Yianni Papoutsis and started out as a burger van in a car park in Peckham in 2008. After a number of pop-ups its made its bricks and mortar debut in 2011 with a site on Welbeck Street in Marylebone, which closed in 2019.

The Oxford Circus restaurant opened in 2019 and BLOODsports launched in Covent Garden in February last year.
