West Malling restaurant St Leonard’s has now closed following its final service yesterday (5 July).

The Kent restaurant, which opened in 2021, bade farewell after five years of trading.

The closure comes after the business announced with ‘mixed emotions’ the end of service via Instagram, explaining the decision follows disruption caused by a fire in 2023 and the need for further building work on the first floor and time to ‘carefully consider our next chapter’.

Despite the closure, the team emphasised their ongoing connection to the location, saying: ‘We remain committed to the site and to the West Malling community, and we’ll be sure to share future plans with you as soon as we’re able.’

The message went on to thank customers: ‘St Leonard’s has been shaped by the people who dined with us, and we are incredibly grateful for every visit.’ As well as past and present staff members, adding: ‘We would also like to thank our wonderful team, past and present, whose passion, warmth, and hard work have been at the heart of St Leonard’s.’

Customers with bookings over the final weekend were told they would still be welcomed, and gift voucher holders were assured the team would be in touch directly.

St Leonard’s described itself as offering ‘relaxed dining in the heart of West Malling’, with a menu built around seasonal, modern British-style dishes ranging from brunch and small plates to larger mains and Sunday roasts.
