Nichols, who won a Michelin star at fine dining restaurant Store, will open The Northwic in Lower Goat Lane in the city.
Occupying the building that housed Biddy’s Tea Room until December 2024, the new restaurant will be set over two floors, with a ground floor area with a big meat display fridge and bar and an upstairs dining room that will feature an open kitchen and lots of counter seating.
Nichols, who also appeared on Great British Menu in 2024, has worked at two Michelin-starred restaurants Midsummer House and Restaurant Sat Bains as well as at Tom Kerridge’s Bar and Grill.
He joined Store when it launched in 2021 and left in August 2024 to go travelling around Southeast Asia with his partner Becca. The restaurant subsequently closed.
“I can’t quite believe I’ve bought a restaurant,” says Nichols of his new project.
“It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be good.”
