The fast-food chain will take over the former KFC drive-thru, just east of the town centre, with plans including a rear extension, new plant equipment, a redesigned drive-thru lane and a complete overhaul of the building’s exterior, featuring new cladding, canopies and Chick-fil-A branding.
Inside, the restaurant will be restructured to accommodate between 66 and 68 diners, alongside a modernised kitchen and customer service area.
The existing drive-thru will be retained, with improvements including a reconfigured vehicle lane, digital menu boards and upgraded outdoor seating. The plans also include improved parking, with accessible spaces relocated, new cycle and motorcycle parking installed, and a pedestrian route linking the restaurant to parking at the rear of the retail park.
Planning documents state the restaurant is expected to create around 90 full-time and part-time jobs.
Earlier this year Chick-fil-A also opened its second company-owned site in the UK in Kingston.
