Located on Monmouth Street, the New York-style pizza slice shop is a partnership between Del Guercio and Delany, Phil Chaykin, the restaurateur behind Ugly Dumpling in Carnaby, David Paone and Aaron Murphy.
The menu offers pizza by the slice, with options including a cheese pizza with tomato, mozzarella, pecorino and basil; a house vodka pizza with tomato and cream sauce, mozzarella and chives; pepperoni; tomato and stracciatella; and a loaded pepperoni pizza topped with stracciatella and hot maple.
Announcing the opening on social media, Del Guercio says: “When we first started reviewing margherita pizzas six years ago, never did I think that we would be here in a prime location in the middle of Covent Garden.
“As a born and bred Londoner, honestly this fills me with nothing but pride.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the team we’ve got in place, and I couldn’t be prouder of this pizza.”
Delany describes the opening as “a dream come true”, adding: “I never really thought this would happen.”
The Covent Garden opening marks the second site for the founders’ growing pizza business, following Carmela’s Pizza in Islington, which was opened last year by Del Guercio, Delany and Chaykin.
