Portuguese mini-group Bar Douro is opening its third restaurant this autumn on the site of the soon-to-close 10 Greek Street.

The group, which was founded by Max Graham in 2016, is taking on the Greek Street site to open a restaurant in October.

The opening marks a return to the Soho street for Graham, who spent eight months running Churchill’s Port House introducing Londoners to Portuguese wines and Ports.

The new restaurant will serve Bar Douro’s classic dishes, such as its grilled pork skewers; salt cod hash; and garlic prawns alongside new creations exclusive to Soho, including Maronesa vaca velha beef, imported directly from Portugal for the first time in the UK.

Executive chef Neuza Leal will oversee the menu that will place even greater emphasis on Portugal’s lesser-known regions, seasonal ingredients and producer partnerships.

“As always, our menu will celebrate exceptional regional ingredients, independent producers and the largest Portuguese wine list in the UK,” it says.

Announcing the news, the restaurant adds: “Ten years after welcoming our first guests beneath the railway arches in London Bridge, we’re bringing Bar Douro to one of London’s most iconic restaurant addresses: 10 Greek Street.

“For our founder, Max Graham, it’s a return to where the journey began. Now, over a decade later, we’re coming back with everything we’ve learnt along the way.”

Graham founded Bar Douro in London Bridge in 2016 after failing to understand why Portuguese food and Portuguese wine was so poorly
represented in the capital and seeing an opportunity to change that. A second Bar Douro opened in the City in January 2020.

Cameron Emirali and Luke Wilson announced last month that they would be closing their restaurant 10 Greek Street after 14 years in operation. The restaurant’s last service will be on 8 August.
