Throp will serve as MD alongside maintaining his role as group CFO, which he has held since March 2022. Springett moves into his new role having joined the Asian-inspired food-to-go chain as property director last year.
In a statement Schlee says: “We were glad to be able to hire internally, and they have a great blend of skills.
“I will remain an Itsu board member and support them in every way possible.”
Schlee took the helm of Itsu’s restaurant business in late 2024 having been involved with the group since its early days. He previously served as CEO of Pret a Manger between 2003 and 2019.
Itsu recently reported £176m in revenue for the 53-week period ended 2 January 2025. The combined revenue, for both the restaurant and grocery business, represented 9% growth year-on-year, with margins remaining strong in both businesses.
