The Norwich restaurant, the only one in the city to hold a star, will close later this month.
The closure comes after Mark Poynton announced that he had left the restaurant and resigned as a director of the company to concentrate his efforts on his Cambridge restaurant The Ancient Shepherds.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall,” it says in a post from the team. “Due to changes at Caistor Hall after much thought and consideration, we feel it would not be right to continue this journey without him.
“The restaurant was built around a shared vision, passion, and commitment to delivering something truly special, and we believe this chapter should end in the way it began-together.”
“We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved and deeply grateful to our wonderful team, our loyal guests, our suppliers, and everyone who has supported us throughout this journey.”
Caistor Hall launched in March 2023 and was awarded a Michelin star in February 2025, which it retained the following year.
The restaurant’s final service will be 22 August and it says it will do everything it can to accommodate as many guests as possible before it closes its doors. Diners who hold gift vouchers will be contacted to discuss available options.
