The new site will be located next to JD Gym in Cwmbran, with the business promising a full menu of its popular high-protein food and drink, including breakfast and brunch, smoothies and protein shakes, açaí bowls, supplements and prep meals.
The Protein Shed also has plans for a second site expected to open in Ringland, although it currently remains subject to planning permission.
In a post on Instagram the company says both opportunities came up at the same time and that it was unable to turn either down.
In the post, The Protein Shed goes on to say it was looking forward to showing customers the business ‘on a whole new level’, reflecting on its journey from starting with a van in Cwmbran to opening its own store.
The business also thanked its customers for supporting the vans, prep meals, drinks and online presence.
‘None of this happens without each and every one of you who comes through our doors, visits the vans, buys our prep meals, grabs a drink or simply supports us online,’ the post reads.
Founded by Newport entrepreneur Thomas Baldwin, The Protein Shed began in September 2023 with a street food van at Maesglas Retail Park in Newport, selling high-protein meals and drinks aimed at gym-goers and health-conscious customers.
The business expanded into Cwmbran less than a year later with a second food van at Cwmbran Shopping Centre.
