A new Indian-inspired pub from the chef behind Pahli Hill and Tom Kerridge’s new bar are among this month’s key openings.

Avi Shashidhara, the chef behind Pahli Hill, is opening Talli Queen, a new neighbourhood pub in Shepherd’s Bush. Taking over the former Queen Adelaide on Uxbridge Road, the 120-cover venue combines British pub traditions with Indian food and drink culture, with a central bar, open kitchen, dining room and terrace. The menu centres on a charcoal grill and tandoor, with guests able to order snacks, breads, small plates, larger dishes and sharing cuts freely rather than in courses. Seasonal British produce and Indian ingredients feature throughout, with the menu changing regularly.

Wild Group founder Ilya Demichev and George Bukhov-Weinstein are set to launch their first pub this month. Located in the City of London at 8-10 Old Jewry near Bank station The Albatross will be run by landlord Chris Dunlop and landlady Alice Tayler, with former Goodman chef ‘Howzit’ Piorkowski heading up the kitchen. The pub will specialise in British seafood, particularly shellfish, including native lobsters held in live tanks. The opening menu includes dishes such as smocked mackerel toast; Devon crab toast; and seared scallop butter, followed by larger dishes featuring roasted sea bass with brown butter and herbs; and pan-seared turbot with beurre blanc.

Westminster hotel Corinthia London welcomes a new bar this month from Tom Kerridge. Georgie’s Bar, named after Kerridge’s boxer dog, opens at the hotel on 5 September and will tap into the capital’s current fascination with the martini with Georgie’s Martini club, where four Martinis will be served straight from the freezer: Dry, Wet, Dirty and the Steak - Georgie’s take on the classic Gibson finished with a house-smoked pickled onion. Cocktail-friendly food will complete the offer, with snacks such as pork scratchings; beef jerky; frickles; and buttermilk fried chicken, and larger plates such as a cheeseburger with BBQ brisket; and pink shellfish brioche rolls with bloody marie-rose sauce to sink your teeth into while sipping.

The Shepherd Mayfair has opened its signature restaurant Fayre in line with the launch of the boutique hotel launches today. Located on the ground floor of the Shepherd Market hotel, the 62-cover dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu centred on seasonal British produce. Dishes include lobster and prawn brioche, crispy duck confit salad, Gloucester Old Spot pork chop, beef Wellington pithivier and dry-aged steaks. A signature feature of the menu is the ‘puddings by the glass’, reimagining classic British desserts in tall glasses inspired by the spectacle of the historic May Fair. The opening dessert is a strawberry and champagne trifle, with a new pudding introduced each week.

George & Dragon

Barworks founder Marc Francis-Baum will reopen The Peasant in Clerkenwell as George & Dragon in collaboration with Tom Brown and Brad Carter’s Island restaurant. The 1889 Grade II-listed pub will span two floors with 110 covers. The ground floor will operate as a pub serving elevated classics, while the first floor will house Island, Brown and Carter’s King’s Cross restaurant, which recently announced it would be relocating. Island will occupy a 60-cover space and will continue to serve a surf and turf menu inspired by British produce and the chefs’ travels.

Paul Sarlas is set to open all-day restaurant and bar Honeyshade above the Central Park Hotel in Bayswater. The rooftop venue will combine a British brasserie with Levantine influences, serving manakeesh and flatbreads from a stone oven alongside steaks, seafood and open-fire dishes. The menu will run from breakfast through to dinner, with evenings focused on sharing plates, wine and cocktails. Sarlas has held senior roles at restaurant groups including Ping Pong, Chotto Matte and Noble Hospitality Group, which operates Angus Steakhouse and Alley Cats Pizza.

Bunso

Omar Shah, co-founder of Maginhawa Group, which operates Belly, Bistro Mamasons and Guanabana, is set to open Filipino-inspired neighbourhood restaurant Bunso in Kentish Town. Meaning ‘youngest child’ in Filipino, Bunso will operate as a bakery by day, serving laminated pastries, savoury bakes and coffee, before transforming into a pizzeria in the evening. The dinner menu will centre on fresh pizzas alongside crudo, kinilaw, salads and pasta, with Filipino influences running throughout. A purpose-built hi-fi system will provide the soundtrack, with vinyl and CDs played in the evenings.

The Horses

Public House Group is set to open The Horses on Ray Street in Clerkenwell this month. The new pub will serve seasonal, ingredient-led dishes, with a focus on independent producers and British seafood. The menu will change daily based on the catch and seasonal produce from the group’s market garden at Bruern Farms in the Cotswolds. The Horses will be designed and built by Public House Studio, the group’s in-house design team.

Toastée

Toasteé, a new French toast and ube bar, is set to open at Westfield White City. This is the third concept from 1996 Group, the business behind Donia in Soho and Panadera Bakery in Marylebone, and has been co-created by the group’s founder Florence Mae Maglanoc alongside her long-time collaborator and protégé chef Adrian Kyle Felipe. The all-day dessert venue will focus on French toast and a range of ube, a purple yam widely used in Filipino desserts, drinks inspired by flavours from the Philippines and wider Southeast Asia. The menu will feature three signature French toast creations topped with ingredients including ube jam, matcha ganache and Milo cookies and cream.

Five Feet Pizzeria

Five Feet Pizzeria, a new independent pizzeria from the founders of Legare, Luna and WatchHouse, is set to open on Bermondsey Street. The 55-cover neighbourhood restaurant will specialise in pan pizzas made with centimetre-thick dough from heritage grains, milled on site in a bespoke machine imported from Montpellier. Chef and baker Jack Ellingham will create bespoke flour blends using grains from independent UK farmers, and pizzas will be topped with British ingredients and baked in seasoned black iron pans. The menu will also feature dishes including polenta fritta, chicken wings and focaccia di Recco, alongside seasonal gelato, chocolate cake and bomboloni.

Restaurateur Roberto Costa has entered London’s booming pizza scene with God Save The Pizza, a new concept aiming to challenge the dominance of ‘London-style’ pizza. Located on Exmouth Market next to Costa’s Macellaio RC, the restaurant focuses on thin and crispy Roman-style sourdough bases. Pizzas come in three tiers – Original, Revolution and Rebel – and are available as 8-inch pizzettas, 14-inch sharing pizzas or 12-inch gluten-free bases. Alongside the pizzas, sides include spicy lasagna, chicken wings with curry sauce and beetroot hummus with pizza bread. Diners are also be able to create their own pizza, choosing a base, sauce and cheese, with up to four toppings included.

Rapper Professor Green is expanding his fast food brand Proper Good to London following the launch of its first location in Glasgow earlier this year. The concept, founded by Green - real name Stephen Paul Manderson - in partnership with Hero Brands, will launch on Soho Street next month, marking the next stage in its growth ambitions. The musician has previously said Proper Good is designed to ‘disrupt the fast food market’. Its menu offers diners the option of customisable dishes including South Koreaninspired UFO brioche hot rolls, loaded salads, and loaded rice boxes.

US-founded pan-Asian restaurant brand P.F. Chang’s is set to open its second London location, nearly a decade after making its debut into the capital. The new restaurant will be located on the second floor of Westfield Stratford City, with space for 166 guests across indoor and patio dining areas, alongside a bar. The halal menu will feature signatures including Mongolian beef, chicken lettuce wraps and Dynamite Shrimp.

James and Maria Close are set to open their new signature restaurant ATLAS James & Maria Close at County Durham luxury resort Rockliffe. The immersive ‘chef-guided’ experience will draw on the places, flavours and experiences the couple have encountered throughout their careers and travels. Dishes will include La Rochelle, a series inspired by the fishermen’s tradition of moules marinières from the Charente-Maritime coast, and Foothills of the Jura Mountains, celebrating quail with Vin Jaune sauce. A chef’s table experience will also be available, priced at £250 for lunch and £300 for dinner.

La Petite Maison is set to launch spin-off café concept Le Café LPM at five-star Knightsbridge hotel The Lanesborough. The year-long residency will open alongside a permanent site in Dubai, bringing the ‘glamour and warmth of the Côte d’Azur’ to an all-day café format focused on coffee, pâtisserie and Riviera-inspired dishes. The venue will transition from a daytime café into an evening neighbourhood destination.

Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers, the new signature restaurant at Sea Containers London, has opened. A partnership between Gordon Ramsay Restaurants and Lore Group, the all-day restaurant will offer elevated British cuisine alongside panoramic views of the Thames from its riverside setting and open-air terrace. The menu will feature seafood, including fruits de mer, whole native lobster and Cornish crab tagliolini, alongside 45-day aged rib-eye and côte de bœuf. Ramsay signatures such as Beef Wellington, fish and chips and the Idiot Sandwich flight will also feature.

Groupe Grandio is set to bring its La Cage ‘sports brasserie’ brand to London, with a new restaurant opening on Kensington High Street. The venue will serve Canadian-inspired food and cocktails alongside live sport, marking La Cage’s debut in an English-speaking market. Founded in Montreal in 1984, the Quebec institution operates nearly 40 restaurants across the province and has expanded internationally to France, with sites in Bordeaux-Bègles and Aix-en-Provence. The Kensington restaurant will serve as a flagship for the brand’s wider international expansion.

Norman’s Cafe co-founder Elliott Kaye is returning to the restaurant game with his new neighbourhood restaurant in Hackney. Marrion’s Bar is described as having the same simple, nostalgic spirit as his now-closed contemporary greasy spoon and will serve a menu of ‘unfussy, comforting favourites done properly’ that will include devilled crab rarebit; pork schnitzel holstein with capers, anchovies and a fried egg; moules frites; prawn cocktail; and a classic cheeseburger. There will also be a selection of house sandwiches, including a tuna melt, and sides such as house coleslaw; fries with malt vinegar mayo; and a Waldorf Salad.

Monaco-born restaurant concept Beefbar will open a flagship UK location within Broadwick Soho’s Dear Jackie restaurant on 10 September. Named Beefbar at Dear Jackie, it will take over both the hotel’s subterranean restaurant and ground-floor sister bar serving a menu that moves between ‘exceptional cuts, street food and dishes made for sharing’ such as pizzette; wagyu and veal bolognese; and a Chilean sea bass dish with rosewater, lychee and raspberry. The move follows the closure of Le Petit Beefbar in Chelsea earlier this year after around five years’ trading.

Itinerant Malaysian family-style pop-up restaurant Duda Diner kicks off its four-month residency at boutique hotel The Pilgrm in Paddington on 17 September. Designed to be shared family-style, Duda Diner’s menu will change with the seasons but expect variations of Malaysian stir-frys, whole grilled fish dishes such as ikan bakar - seabream with laksa beurre blanc, xo chilli, pickled tuhauand; and takes on classic kerabu salads like bitter leaves, ginger lime dressing and candied nuts, alongside favourites such as the tempoyak oyster, made with Malaysia’s famously pungent fermented durian; and the DUDA Burger - two smashed beef patties, cheese, a fried egg with a Sarawak peppercorn chilli sauce.

Originally due to launch in May, Dom Chapman and Nigel Sutcliffe’s Berkshire pub and restaurant with rooms finally opens its doors at the start of the month. The Binfield venue will have an 80-cover dining room and a 20-seater terrace complete with an Argentinian grill and will serve an extensive menu that will include oysters, dishes from the grill such as Hereford ribeye steaks; Tamworth pork chops; and whole native lobster, as well as Cornish fish pie and Hereford chateaubriand to share.

Bistro Cocotte

A decade on from launching Cocotte in Notting Hill, Romain Bourrillon is bringing an evolution of the French restaurant to Soho’s Kingly Court. Described as a modern French bistro and wine bar rather that an extension of the original restaurant, Bistro Cocotte will serve contemporary takes on French classics paired with a Burgundy-focused wine list. It will offer a prix fixe lunch served within 45 minutes, tailored to Soho’s working crowd.
