The 24-seat intimate restaurant, in Deansgate, was founded by Julian Pizer, Max Yorke and Daniel Foggo in 2022.
In a post on Instagram announcing the closure, the team says: “With heavy hearts we are sad to announce that after five years Another Hand will be closing its doors with immediate effect.’
The restaurant said the decision came amid what it described as increasingly difficult conditions for the hospitality sector.
“Unfortunately, as most of us know, the current economic climate for the hospitality sector is facing steep challenges, sadly a familiar story,’ the post reads. ‘And after five years of operating within this increasingly challenging environment, we feel it’s time for us to step away.”
The team adds that the decision has not been taken lightly but say they felt like it was the right time to bring the restaurant’s chapter to an end.
Another Hand opened in 2022 with a focus on a produce-led, vegetable-focused style of cooking, with an emphasis on ingredients sourced from across the North West. Its offer was built around sharing plates served from a fully open kitchen.
The restaurant describes itself as ‘a small, independent team with a clear focus on quality’, with an approach centred on detail, consistency and high standards.
Dishes on the menu included aged beef tartare with celeriac cannoli, tomato ponzu and Parmesan foam; BBQ Cornish scallop with rye crumb, onion soubise and burnt citrus; koji chicken with braised endive, chicken skin cracker, chestnut and brown butter; and poached pear with smoked hay custard, blue cheese mousse and hazelnut.
During its time in Manchester, Another Hand was included in the 2025 Michelin Guide and the 2025 Good Food Guide. It was also named among the Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants for 2025 and received the Best Newcomer award at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival in 2022.
In its closing statement, the restaurant pays tribute to the people involved in the business, including its staff, producers and suppliers, as well as its customers.
