The new bakery will be located on Clapham High Street, close to Clapham Common, and will offer the same all-day menu as the group’s existing sites.
The menu will include sourdough, croissants and pastries, alongside made-to-order sandwiches and toasties, sausage rolls, quiches and a rotating selection of cakes and sweet treats. Products are made daily at Blackbird’s central production facility in West Norwood.
The opening will coincide with the launch of the bakery’s autumn menu, which will feature seasonal variations on its existing range.
The Clapham site will feature a butter-yellow shopfront and pavement seating, with a bakery counter inside. A courtyard at the rear will provide additional customer seating.
“Clapham has always felt like a natural next step for us - we’ve had customers travelling over from the area for years, so it’s brilliant to finally be opening our doors right on their doorstep,” says founder Eamonn Sweeney.
“Twenty years after we started out on a market stall in East Dulwich, it means a huge amount to still be growing and to be welcoming a whole new part of London into the Blackbird family.”
Blackbird Bakery was founded by Eamonn Sweeney in 2006, initially operating as a market stall on North Cross Road in East Dulwich. The business subsequently expanded across South London in locations including Balham, Herne Hill, Peckham, Streatham and West Norwood.
Alongside its retail estate, Blackbird operates a wholesale business supplying cafés and restaurants.
