Located at 22 Park Lane, the opening marks a significant milestone for the contemporary Japanese restaurant group, joining its sites in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Monaco, Rabat and Budapest.
The London restaurant will serve an elegant and modern interpretation of traditional Japanese cuisine using high-quality ingredients and takes its name from a culinary philosophy rooted in near-perfect execution with ‘99% perfect’ reflecting the brand’s belief that absolute perfection remains unattainable.
It will have a dining space with a capacity of 60 guests and an exclusive four-seat sushi counter (pictured above) where diners can watch their food being prepared in front of them. It will also feature a 19-cover cabaret bar.
The venue has been conceived as an ‘urban lifestyle destination’, with design features to include gold accents, mirrored surfaces, amber-lit textures and velvet tones in purple and crimson. The space will also include landscaped outdoor terraces featuring sculptural bonsai installations.
99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant was founded in Madrid in 2005 by brothers Fernando and Pedro de León and has expanded across the world. Its Abu Dhabi restaurant has held a Michelin star for three consecutive years.
The group is now entering its next phase of global growth under group CEO Jaime Castañeda, and as well as London it will open a restaurant in Doha as part of its continued international expansion.
