Inspired by Spain’s neighbourhood cervecerías, the walk-in-only restaurant will serve churros and coffee in the morning, bocadillos at lunch, and beer, wine and tapas into the evening.
Harts Group, which is also behind Barrafina and El Pastor, teased the new concept earlier this year as it published its annual results.
The menu has been developed with Barrafina global culinary director Patricia Roig and UK group executive chef Antonio González Milla.
Freshly made churros with chocolate sauce will play a starring role at breakfast, while lunch options will include bocadillos filled with tortilla, pork loin, chorizo or egg.
Snacks such as boquerones, olives and Catalan cured sausage will be served alongside beer, wine, cider and vermouth on tap.
Glass cabinets on the bar will display cold tapas including gildas, mussels escabeche and ensaladilla rusa. The hot menu will include jamón croquetas, calamari, aubergine fritters with honey, meatballs and chorizo cooked in cider.
Located on Dirty Lane, Los Primos will have an open frontage with counter seating along its sash window. Inside, a large stainless steel-topped bar will form the centre of the room. The interior has been designed by Macaulay Sinclair, with graphics by Irving & Co.
The name means ‘cousins’ in Spanish and refers to the grandchildren of the late Mallorca-based artist Vladimir Daskaloff. Four of them are Harts Group directors: brothers Sam, James and Eddie Hart, and their cousin Anna Watkins.
The family spent summers together in Mallorca, while several members later lived in Madrid and Barcelona.
“We wanted to pay homage to the cervecerías we know and love: a home away from home found in every neighbourhood,” says Watkins, managing director of Barrafina Group. “We will welcome Borough Market-goers needing to refuel, locals coming in for an ice-cold beer after work, or groups of friends and family meeting for a bite to eat.”
Harts Group chief executive Sam Hart says the restaurant is a personal project for the family. “Cervecerías in Spain are intergenerational, accessible spaces that won’t break the bank, without compromising on quality – something that’s very important to us.”
Parrillan Borough Yards opened in 2022 alongside Barrafina and Bar Daskal. It followed the launch of the original Parrillan at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross in 2019, which continues to trade.
