Chickpea Provisions will be located at the former Sol Bakery site and will feature a deli, bakery, butcher, bottle shop and florist, alongside a range of local produce and own-brand products.
The deli will sell local cheeses, meats, charcuterie and groceries, as well as freshly prepared salads using local produce and sandwiches created in collaboration with chef and food writer Max Halley, while the bottle shop will stock wines from around the world alongside locally produced ales and ciders. The florist will offer seasonal bouquets and cut flowers from local growers.
The site will also feature an on-site bakery producing focaccia, pastries, filled doughnuts and fresh loaves. A butcher will sell meat from local farms, alongside larger cooked cuts, including stuffed porchetta for the ‘hot sandwich of the day’.
Tea and coffee from local roasters will be served throughout the day, alongside soft-serve ice cream with seasonal toppings. Food and drink will be available to eat in or take away, with indoor seating and an outdoor area featuring a children’s play area and secure dog-walking space.
The project will also provide Chickpea Group with a central bakery, butchery and deli supplying its existing pubs, while offering a retail outlet for products from its existing suppliers and other producers and makers in the region.
The site is being expanded by InstaVolt and will include 30 ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargers, solar panels and battery storage.

Chickpea Group is a South West England operator of pubs with rooms, run by siblings Ethan and Jordan Davids alongside their friend Tommy Tullis.
