St James’s restaurant Quaglino’s will reopen this October, nearly a century after it was founded, following a major restoration. At the heart of the relaunch will be a menu created in collaboration with group culinary consultant Miller Prada, combining Italian provenance, French classical technique and British dining traditions. The restaurant’s Q Bar will return with a new cocktail programme alongside three new bars: a Champagne Bar offering 24 champagnes by the glass and bottle; a Fruits de Mer seafood counter serving molluscs and crustacea alongside ceviche and tiradito small plates; and a dessert bar inspired by a Cannes tabac, with smoke-filled edible helium balloons, cannoli cigars and chocolate ashtrays.

B. Penhale

The team behind Borough Market’s Camille are opening B. Penhale, named after chef patron Elliot Hashtroudi’s grandmother, Betty Penhale, in Farringdon. The restaurant will occupy the former long-term home of chef Pascal Aussignac’s Michelin-starred Club Gascon. B. Penhale will comprise a 60-cover dining room and a six-cover bar, with the latter offering a rotating chalkboard menu exclusively for walk-ins. The restaurant will draw on traditional dishes and rituals of Victorian dining, while the bar will take a broader view of the period and explore how migration has shaped the food of Britain and Ireland.

Lenny’s

Max Lewis brings his cult New Haven ‘apizza’ concept to Covent Garden on 27 October in partnership with MJMK Restaurants. The pizzeria will open on Henrietta Street, bringing New Haven-style apizza (pronounced ‘ahbeetz), a style first developed by Italian immigrants in New Haven in the early 1900s - to central London. Pies from Lewis’ Finsbury Park residency will be available, including the Tomato Pie and the signature The Lenny, which is one half topped with tomato, garlic and pecorino, the other a classic mozzarella pie, but expect lots of new menu items as well in its new grown-up location.

Beaufort Wine Bar

A wine bar offering more than 250 wines from 18 countries opens at The Savoy this month. Called Beaufort Wine Bar, the venue’s extensive list will span six continents, with half of the collection available by the glass. It will include vintages from 1975 to 2025, covering First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy, mature Champagne and wines from lesser-known regions. A selection of grape-based spirits and wine cocktails made with cognac, grappa and pisco will also be available. The food menu will feature sharing dishes alongside a tableside carving service, with cured meats and Jamón Ibérico served from a custom-made flywheel slicer trolley.

Juno

Incipio Group is set to open Juno at London’s Olympia, which it describes as the largest Italian restaurant in Britain. The 265-cover venue will open on 16 October within the redeveloped Olympia estate, spanning 11,500sq ft, with capacity for up to 500 guests in total. Juno’s menu will follow the stages of an Italian dining experience, from aperitivo drinks through contorni and spuntino plates, antipasti and primi to larger secondi dishes. Dishes will include tomato and mozzarella paccheri; crab linguine with chilli and vine-ripened cherry tomatoes; and osso buco alla Milanese with saffron risotto and gremolata. A dedicated Pizza Napoletana counter will seat 10 guests and offer views of the pizza-making process, with an electric Zanolli AVGSTO oven capable of producing up to 300 pizzas an hour.

Seel & Slater

Open Restaurant Group will open Seel & Slater, a two-part restaurant and bar concept in the former Wreck Bistro site in Liverpool’s Ropewalks. Led by Open Restaurant Group co-founders chef Andrew Sheridan and Sam and Emma Morgan, the concept will comprise a 45-cover restaurant, bar and grill upstairs, followed later this year by a cocktail bar on the lower ground floor. Operating from 8am seven days a week, Seel & Slater will serve breakfast and brunch through to lunch, dinner and late-night drinks, with a menu centred on prime cuts from the grill, handmade pasta, sharing plates and New York-inspired dishes influenced by Italian-American dining rooms in Manhattan’s Flatiron and Gramercy neighbourhoods.

Market Place Food Hall arrives at Victoria Station this month with a 10-strong line-up of traders including Argentinian Grill, serving flame-grilled meats and steaks; Hide & Greek, offering gyros, wraps and loaded fries; and Inamo Sukoshi, specialising in sushi and Japanese-inspired street food. Other operators will include Jollof Mama, serving West African dishes inspired by Nigerian flavours; Caribbean-Indian concept Limin; Italian pizza specialist Made in Puglia; Korean-inspired SABA; Latin American trader Streat Latin; Thai House; and The Duck Shed, serving duck wraps, burgers and other duck dishes. Biedronka
Former head chef at Michelin-starred Restaurant Hjem Marek Dziedzic has today (1 October) launched Biedronka, a Polish-inspired restaurant at South Causey Inn in County Durham. Located in the venue’s farmhouse, the restaurant focuses on seasonal British produce alongside the flavours and culinary traditions of Dziedzic’s native Poland. The menu changes regularly and is available as four, five, six or seven courses, divided into snacks, starters and dumplings, seafood and meat, and desserts. Dishes on the sample menu include oysters with cucumber and dill; chicken broth with handmade noodles, carrots and parsley; pearl barley with brown crab, spinach and parsley purée; and roasted mallard breast with braised red cabbage, beetroot, apple and duck jus.

Kasi

Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa in Brockenhurst will launch Kasi, a contemporary Indian restaurant led by chef Surjan Singh. The 85-cover restaurant is due to open in late October and will mark Singh’s first UK project outside London. Taking its name from an ancient name for Varanasi, Kasi will draw inspiration from the cultures and cuisines along the Ganges, from the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal, combining open-fire cooking and traditional Indian techniques with seasonal British produce. The restaurant will offer an à la carte menu as well as a thali lunch and three- and five-course tasting menus, with wine and cocktail pairings.

Bistro 1922

Chelsea private members’ club The Sloane Club is launching an all-day bistro on Lower Sloane Street. Located next to the club, Bistro 1922 will serve British-focused food across lunch and dinner, with executive head chef George Scott-Toft working with director of F&B Gordy McIntyre on the menu and supplier relationships. Producers and F&B partners involved in the project include Rockfish, Cultjar, HG Walter and Curing Rebels. The restaurant will also feature a regularly changing collection of artwork curated with Chelsea-based Hommage, spanning museum and exhibition posters featuring artists including Picasso, Raoul Dufy and Damien Hirst.

Karim Ullah and Sultana Parvin, founders of Indian restaurant Brohmon, have launched a Bangladeshi and Indian street food concept in Ware, Hertfordshire. The new venture, which opened today (1 October) at The Rose & Crown Pub, serves a menu of healthy Bangladeshi and Indian street food spanning curries, street-style snacks and wraps, with dishes drawing on the flavours, spices and traditions of South Asian street food. Brohmon Street will initially open from Thursday to Saturday, from 5pm to 9.30pm, offering dine-in and takeaway, with delivery set to be introduced at a later date.

KIBOU Birmingham

KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar will bring its total number of sites to seven when it open in Birmingham this month. Located on Temple Row in the Colmore Business District overlooking Cathedral Square, the 200-cover venue will feature a bar and lounge, open sushi kitchen, main restaurant and private dining space. The menu will combine classic and contemporary Japanese sharing plates, with dishes including chicken karaage, spiced pork gyoza, tempura, sushi, sashimi, A5 Joshu wagyu beef, ramen, katsu curry and teriyaki. Da Pino

Puglian chef and restaurant manager duo Giuseppe Pepe and Federico Giannuzzi are launching Italian restaurant Da Pino in Stoke Newington, taking over the former Bianca’s site from the Casa Fofo team. The pair will serve dishes inspired by their childhoods alongside more creative flavours and techniques developed while working in London. The opening menu will be Italian-influenced, spanning antipasti, primi and secondi, but is described as taking a more modern and creative approach than a classic trattoria, using seasonal produce sourced locally where possible and championing British organic farms and sustainable fisheries.

After two decades of trading within Borough Market, Roast is launching a second London restaurant at Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch. The 135-cover restaurant will pay tribute to Shoreditch’s lesser-known horticultural history and its connection to Columbia Road Flower Market. The design will feature decorative ironwork, botanical details and layered planting alongside timber, marble, brass and antique mirrors. Solis

Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng will open the first standalone site for their chicken and steak grill restaurant Solis on Soho’s Kingly Street. Named after 16th-century explorer Juan Díaz de Solis, the restaurant draws flavour influences from Spain, Portugal, Uruguay and Argentina, with a menu centred on chicken and steak cooked over a grill. Alongside favourites including grilled half chicken infused with smoked Aji-Aji chilli oil and flat iron steak with Solis steak sauce, the expanded offering will feature larger cuts designed for sharing, including chateaubriand with steak sauce, chimichurri and aji picante, as well as rotating blackboard butcher’s cuts.

Adriana Cavita will relaunch her Mexican restaurant Cavita in Marylebone this month following travels across Mexico and the Amazon, meeting the farmers, cooks and indigenous communities behind the food she has served at her London restaurant since 2022. La Maritxu

London-born cheesecake brand La Maritxu has opened its first location outside London in Bicester Village in the Cotswolds. Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife duo Ignacio and Lucia, La Maritxu has built a following for its signature cheesecake, inspired by the city of Bilbao and baked at a high temperature to create its distinctive caramelised top and creamy centre. Spring St Pizza Bar

Spring St. Pizza, the Borough-based New York-inspired restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Tom Kemble, will expand into the neighbouring railway arch with an Italian-American bar this month. Avi Shashidhara, the chef behind Pahli Hill, is opening Talli Queen, a new neighbourhood pub in Shepherd’s Bush. Taking over the former Queen Adelaide on Uxbridge Road, the 120-cover venue combines British pub traditions with Indian food and drink culture, with a central bar, open kitchen, dining room and terrace. The menu centres on a charcoal grill and tandoor, with guests able to order snacks, breads, small plates, larger dishes and sharing cuts freely rather than in courses. Honeyshade

Paul Sarlas is set to open all-day restaurant and bar Honeyshade above the Central Park Hotel in Bayswater. The rooftop venue will combine a British brasserie with Levantine influences, serving manakeesh and flatbreads from a stone oven alongside steaks, seafood and open-fire dishes. The menu will run from breakfast through to dinner, with evenings focused on sharing plates, wine and cocktails. Cloth Cornhill

Joe Haynes, Ben Butterworth and Tom Hurst’s follow-up to their original Cloth restaurant has a ground floor that operates primarily as a pub, while the first floor has two dining rooms. Overseen by Hurst, the menu includes devils on horseback dressed with smoked chillies, capers and parsley; smoked haddock, potato and leek gratin; venison, bacon and bone marrow pie; grilled lemon sole with potted shrimp and sea beet; and a Barnsley chop for two with anchovy and rosemary butter. Desserts include warm chocolate pudding with hazelnut ice cream, while a rarebit custard tart is offered as a savoury course. A Cornhill sausage has also been recreated using a Simpson’s recipe book from the 1940s discovered during the year-long renovation of the Grade II-listed space.

Milk Burger

This new burger and champagne restaurant opens on Westbourne Grove, in Notting Hill on 5 October. Founded by hospitality entrepreneurs Alina Kosichkina and Dima Zakhodiakin, Milk Burger will be led in the kitchen by Jorge Paredes, formerly executive chef at Michelin-starred OMA, and will serve an elevated burger menu. Highlights will include a bone marrow and truffle burger; Cuban sandwich; and a spicy smash burger, alongside soft serve; and fried cherry pie for dessert, all complemented by the restaurant’s champagne offer.
