Fried chicken brand Slim Chickens is joining the raft of QSR players moving into the drive-thru space.

Boparan Restaurant Group, the brand’s UK master franchise partner, will open its first UK drive-thru at Broughton Shopping Park in Flintshire, Wales, this month and says it plans to use the site as a model for further drive-thru locations.

The restaurant will serve the full Slim Chickens menu, including buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders that are hand-breaded to order, alongside wings, sandwiches, wraps and salads. The menu also includes hand-spun shakes, Texas Toast and 15 signature house sauces.

It follows similar moves by Chick-fil-A and Pret A Manger, which both opened their first UK drive-thru sites earlier this year.

“The opening of this Slim Chickens drive-thru is a huge moment for the brand,” says Tom Patrick, marketing director at Boparan Restaurants.

“Broughton represents an entirely new concept for us and an exciting next step in how we bring Slims to more guests across the country.”

Rich Pigott, MD for Boparan Restaurants adds: “We’ve got ambitious plans for the drive-thru format, and Broughton gives us the opportunity to take everything people love about Slim Chickens - Freshly-cooked food to order, big flavours, 15 house dips and a brand with real personality- and bring it to guests in a completely new way.

“This is only the beginning for Slim Chickens drive-thrus in the UK, and we can’t wait to see Broughton get behind the wheel.”

Boparan currently operates more than 80 Slim Chickens restaurants across the UK. Earlier this year, the group partnered with The Restaurant Group Concessions (TRGC) to open the brand’s first UK airport site.
