The restaurant, at 21 Wardour Street, announced the closure via Instagram, saying the decision came ‘with very heavy hearts’.
The restaurant went on to say it had been an “absolute privilege” to welcome customers through its doors over the past couple of decades, adding that many had become “more than just customers”.
“You have shared your stories, celebrations, milestones, laughter and everyday moments with us,” the post reads.
Cafe TPT described the restaurant as being about more than its food, highlighting the relationships it had built with customers during its time in Chinatown.
“Cafe TPT has never been just about the food,’ it says. “It has always been about the people – the familiar faces, the friendships, the conversation and the memories created around our tables.”
The restaurant thanked customers for their “support, loyalty and custom throughout all these years”, saying the memories and connections made at Cafe TPT would remain “a cherished part of our story”.
Cafe TPT served Chinese street food classics, with a menu that included chicken with black bean and green peppers; steamed sea bass in Thai style; fried prawns with chilli and salt; and sautéed fillet with XO sauce.
The restaurant’s final service will run on the 27 October.
