James Martin’s restaurant at Manchester235 has closed after 14 years, following the conclusion of the partnership between the high-profile chef and casino operator Metropolitan Gaming.

Metropolitan Gaming says in a statement on its website that the partnership with James Martin and his team, which began in 2012, had been a ‘successful and valued collaboration’, with the restaurant becoming an established part of the Manchester235 experience.

Metropolitan Gaming said it remained committed to Manchester235, with further details on the venue’s future food and beverage offering to be announced in due course.

The operator also revealed that employees affected by the closure have been retained within the Manchester235 business and customers with existing restaurant reservations will be contacted directly by Manchester235 regarding cancellations.

Outstanding gift card balances will also be refunded, with Manchester235 managing the process.

“Our partnership with James Martin and his team has been an important part of Manchester235’s story since 2012,” says Maxine Gibbons, venue director at Manchester235.

“We would like to thank James and everyone who has been part of the James Martin Manchester team over the years for their commitment, hard work and the memorable experiences they have created for our guests.

“James and his team have made a significant contribution to the food and beverage experience at Manchester235, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have brought to the venue.

“We wish James and the team every success for the future.”

James Martin previously presented Saturday Kitchen, which he took over from Antony Worrall Thompson in 2006 before stepping down in 2016. He subsequently launched James Martin’s Saturday Morning.

Martin’s other restaurants include Grill by James Martin at The Lygon Arms and The Kitchen at Chewton Glen.
