Independent burger brand The Beefy Boys will open its eighth UK restaurant in Cambridge this winter.

Located on Bene’t Street, the brand will take over the former BrewDog site, with the restaurant targeting an opening before Christmas.

The menu will include the brand’s Beefy Boy Burger and Oklahoma Onion Boy Cali Style burger, alongside loaded fries, buffalo wings, vegetarian and vegan options, sides and hard shakes. The Beefy Boys uses 100% grass-fed beef sourced from Herefordshire and says it works with local suppliers where possible.

The site will be The Beefy Boys’ most eastern UK restaurant to date, creating 50 new jobs.

“Cambridge has an exciting and diverse food scene, and it’s been one to watch for us for some time,” says co-founder Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy.

“We’ve been eyeing it up and when the former BrewDog site became available, we knew the time was right.

“We’re incredibly proud of how far The Beefy Boys has come. Just over ten years ago we were cooking burgers in our back gardens, and now we are opening our eighth restaurant.

“We can’t wait to bring what we do to Cambridge and become a part of the local community.”

Founded in 2011 by childhood friends Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy, Daniel Mayo-Evans, Christian Williams and Lee Symonds, The Beefy Boys has previously been crowned UK’s Best Burger in 2023.

The Cambridge restaurant will join its existing sites in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford, Nottingham and Exeter. The Beefy Boys also operates two food trucks serving events across the UK.
