Michelin-starred chef Michael O’Hare has partnered with Jaguar to open Café Eighty-One at the with luxury and sports car brand’s new flagship showroom in Knightsbridge, London.

O’Hare, who is best known for his restaurant The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds and who currently runs Inlamentation in Boston Spa, has created a menu inspired by British hospitality, including a modern interpretation of afternoon tea, featuring a range of teas, savoury courses and a reinterpretation of the traditional scone.

The menu’s centrepiece is a ‘sculptural’ petit gâteau inspired by the oloid, a geometric form that has also influenced the design of Jaguar’s forthcoming Type 01 vehicle.

Café Eighty-One will also host culinary collaborations, seasonal experiences, curated tastings and Jaguar’s Taste Series.

“From the beginning, the ambition was to create something genuinely original,” says O’Hare.

“The menu takes familiar British rituals and looks at them differently, creating moments of surprise while remaining welcoming and enjoyable.

“That’s a philosophy I share with Jaguar.”

Santino Pietrosanti, director of Jaguar UK, adds: “Café Eighty-One is designed to be open, welcoming and inspiring, bringing together British hospitality, culture and creativity in a way that feels distinctly Jaguar.

“Located within our Knightsbridge flagship, it invites guests to experience the brand in a more personal and engaging way, with every detail reflecting the originality and modernity at the heart of Jaguar’s DNA.”

The café forms part of Jaguar’s wider redevelopment of the showroom, which has been designed as a destination combining automotive retail with design, culture and hospitality.

The two-floor Knightsbridge site includes an immersive installation charting the evolution of Jaguar’s Leaper emblem, while its Design Vault offers customers a dedicated vehicle commissioning experience incorporating digital personalisation and cinematic storytelling.
