London-based matcha brand JENKI will open its eighth matcha bar this week, opposite Liverpool Street station.

The opening follows JENKI’s recent launch in Soho, with further new sites planned for St Paul’s and Marylebone before the end of the year.

Located within historic building The Livery, the site’s design references the old Underground station entrance opposite, with its curved forms and tiling reflected in the central whisking bar.

Finished in hojicha-brown tiles, the curved counter has been designed to manage customer flow in the busy commuter location. The new bar also introduces a projected wall installation for the first time, developed in collaboration with audiovisual specialists Tateside.

Inspired by the team’s sourcing trips to Japan, the projections bring imagery from these visits into the space. Booth seating along the wall provides a place to sit away from the busy commuter hub.

“Liverpool Street is an exciting location for us, right in the heart of the city,” says Otto Boyer, co-founder of JENKI.

“With so many people travelling through the area each day, we see a real opportunity to make JENKI part of their daily commute, whether they are picking up a matcha on their way to the office, or stopping in during the day. It’s a great next step as we grow across London”.
