In a statement posted to Instagram, founders Mairi Livsey and Marius Baltaitis says the business had received ‘a lot of DMs over the last few days’ and wanted to address confusion surrounding similar concepts, including one reportedly operating in Dubai using the CZER name and logo.
The post clarifies that the duo currently operates two locations.
‘CZER currently has two locations only: our OG Mayfair spot and our new Soho spot, both in London,’ the post reads.
A TikTok video posted by @Emmaflicc identified the Dubai concept as CZERZ, with very similar branding to CZER’s, including its font and colour scheme. The video suggested the brand was due to open at Global Village in Dubai, although no further mention of CZERZ could be found on Global Village’s website or elsewhere online.
CZER’s post adds that the Dubai concept is not affiliated with its business and says any future openings or pop-ups outside London would be announced through CZER’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts, @czerldn.
The Caesar wrap brand has grown in popularity since it launched in May this year from a counter at the back of Mayfair Food Fayre, a newsagent near Marble Arch. The concept has been developed around the chopped chicken Caesar wraps popular in New York, with the founders initially promoting the idea on social media before securing premises.
Its menu centres on two wraps: the Classic CZER and the Picante CZER, both made with oven-roasted chicken breast, lettuce, Parmesan, croutons and house Caesar dressing, with the Picante offering a spicier take. Customers can also have crisps chopped into their wraps.
A number of Caesar wrap concepts have opened across the UK in recent months. Newly opened Caesar Club in Manchester offers a Caesar wrap at the same £13 price point as CZER, as well as a spicier option, with customers also able to add crisps to their wraps. Both concepts use similar green and white branding.
The statement follows the opening of CZER’s second site on Soho’s Brewer Street in Soho in August. The business secured the premises on an initial six-month basis to assess demand and the potential for longer-term expansion, following the success of its original Mayfair location.
CZER attracted significant attention online following its launch when Livsey and Baltaitis posted an image of their proposed product on TikTok, which received more than 100,000 views within 24 hours.
Livsey and Baltaitis conclude the post by thanking customers who have supported the business during its first five months, describing the period as an intense process of ‘building and bootstrapping’ the concept.
